Cedar Shoals upsets Apalachee
Players celebrate after the Cedar Shoals Jaguars beat the Apalachee Wildcats 28-21 on Friday, October 22, 2010 in Athens, Ga.
What a difference a year makes. Last season, we followed the Apalachee Wildcats religiously as they went undefeated. This month, i managed to watch Apalachee play both of Athens' High schools, Clarke Central & Cedar Shoals.
Cedar was winless in the division coming into the matchup, with Apalachee looking to bounce back after losing to Clarke.
It was a game of turnovers - blocked punts, fumbles and an interception.
Apalachee defensive back Andwon Tyson and Cedar Shoals Orlando Wheeler dive for a fumble in the second quarter as the Cedar Shoals Jaguars beat the Apalachee Wildcats 28-21 on Friday, October 22, 2010 in Athens, Ga. Apalachee would throw an interception on the next play.
Apalachee wide receiver Jermaine Smith catches a pass in front of Cedar Shoals defensive back Rodney Moss on the Cedar Shoals 10-yard-line to set up a touchdown with less than a minute to play as the Cedar Shoals Jaguars beat the Apalachee Wildcats 28-21 on Friday, October 22, 2010 in Athens, Ga.
Apalachee made a good attempt at a comeback, moving the ball 95 yards in less then a minute.
Apalachee running back Stanley Williams breaks a tackle in the third quarter as the Cedar Shoals Jaguars beat the Apalachee Wildcats 28-21 on Friday, October 22, 2010 in Athens, Ga.
Jersey pull photo? Check.
Cedar Shoals fullback Charmarcus Pittard and Apalachee defensive lineman Rakimn Peters dive after a fumble before Peters recovered it with less then two minutes to go in the game as the Cedar Shoals Jaguars beat the Apalachee Wildcats 28-21 on Friday, October 22, 2010 in Athens, Ga.
I usually avoid the cheerleaders, but this made me chuckle.
Again.... i try the silhouetting the full moon photo. I was too close to the subjects for everything to be in focus, even at f/32. The light and the angles didnt quite match up.
(PS - If you kid has a uniform with a number on, make sure his name is on the roster!)
