With every game, someone wins and someone loses. Photographically speaking, if you do it right you capture both. I went to Boulder, Colorado to cover Georgia and i missed THE PICTURES from the Georgia perspective. If I worked in Colorado, i had amazing stuff.



The reasons don't matter why i missed them. By the way, don't lean out in front of the line as you block everyone which causes them to lean which eventually blocks me and I'm not a highly paid hobbist; I'm a photojournalist who's livelyhood is based on making pictures. When you block me and you're someone who doesn't do this for a living, I get annoyed.

Georgia should have won the game. I was setting up for the jube from the expected game-winning field goal when the unthinkable happened for those of us playing the percentages. Georgia fumbled it away. With me on the 15-yard line, this was the closest to a frame i had of it. Then as I'm trying to get deject, i get the Colorado cheerleaders running out onto the field in front of me.

This led to the Colorado fans rushing the field at the end. Scary feeling having 10,000 people all running towards you. Riot police don't phase me but drunken college football fans running at me? You bet.

I got out of the scrum (Thank you Colorado State Police) and worked on shooting jube as the Georgia team got off the field in a hurry.

Colorado did know how to celebrate a touchdown, as this was the game-winning td. The previous TD (top of page) looked better.

I went in search of Georgia tailgaters and tried to make an image with the mountains in it.

This made a really nice image from the length of the field. He dropped the ball as he landed.

And then there's the running of Ralphie. From a safety perspective, this is a 400-600 shot from a long ways away. The bison will win.




Other observations: You have to go through the crowd to change ends of the field. This takes at least 2 plays as stadium security cannot keep fans out of the aisles and can only be done on the visitors side. There is no room whatsoever on the sidelines, letalone on the visitors side. We were allowed to be only up to the 15 yard line because they extend the bench. You are forced to shoot from the end zone, but only on one side of the goalposts as on one end of the field, the cheerleaders take up all the room. On the other? All of Ralphie's handlers. Our "workroom"? Two tables outside the press box. One router for everyone. (I recommend a wireless card). There is no easy way to and from the field from there, you have to go through the stands. Alas it wasn't all bad. My sincere thanks to the Colorado SID dept that ordered some really good pizza for those of us who were working late after the game.
